If at Madurai, do visit the Shabrees near railway station and have their 5 taste uttapa (rice pancakes, just not sweet). 

And post that for some old world charm skip the ride booking apps and just jump in an old tuk tuk a.k.a. rickshaw and take a few silly selfies…
